Hubpages sucks! Are they hypocrites or just incompetents?

A few days ago i though about following the crowds and created a couple hubs on hubages.com. The hub was aimed to SEO, article writing, automation tools, etc.

Couple days after it was published, and after was getting a few good comments, i got an email saying that as a result of a moderator report, my hub was unpublished for breaking the TOS.  Particularly, for "Promotion of automated marketing tools or programs".

I was pretty confused, because before publishing that hub i searched in Google for similar hubs (using a query like: keyword site:hubpages.com) and were a few thousands of them.

In a moment of weakness, i thought to email hubpages support. I honestly though it was a mistake.  After all, the hub was not even promoting anything. It was purely informative, with no affiliate links, no kind of backlinks our out links, even with the build in ads turned off.

So, i asked, what was wrong with my hub? How come there are 5000 more hubs showing for the same keyword, some of them plain salespages or reviews with affiliate links?

But that is not answering my questions. How come there are thousands hubs which OBVIOUSLY violating the rules still up?! Just do a test and search for "online casino site:hubpages.com", "how to hack site:hubpages.com" , "article spinning site:hubpage.com", "penis enlargement site:hubpages.com" and that can continue forever with all kind of forbidden keywords or topics. You will more then likely get hundreds or even thousands of results for each of those searches.

Or what about this 4 years hub i found after spending 30 second on Google: http://the-cisco-kid.hubpages.com/hub/Why-I-Hate-Hippies? (I purposely did not added a link to it because i don't want to link to such crap, not even with a nofollow link).

How that comes? If that's not hateful, objectionable, offensive and so on (meaning all against the rules), then nothing is.

Really, you don't have to be a freaking genius to know that there are VERY SIMPLE ways to automatically filter such pages. Why don't they do it? Are the moderators subjective, stupid or lazy? Are the engineers and managers incompetents?

Or maybe they just close their eyes sometime. After all, most of those niches are very profitable, they probably make lot of money from their share of the ads on those hubs. That might explain why many hubs using affiliate links get deleted (for various reasons). Affiliate links means less clicks on the build in ads, so less money for hubpages.

Anyway, i am getting tired. I know this post won't change anything, not even the perception of those people who love hubpages and keep adding content to them for, in the best case, pennies.

Bottom line.... Hubpages, you suck!
