Maximize Site Potential With SEO Site Audit

Posted by 19 November, 2011 (0) Comment

The Search Engine Optimization (SEO) industry has grown tremendously in the past few years, and to such an extent that many SEO practices have become important components of the Internet marketing strategies for many businesses.

However, although the ever-changing dynamics between search engine algorithms and SEO techniques have evolved in complexity and in many different directions, very little has been done to actually measure the effectiveness of these SEO methodologies and processes. Significant amount of money is budgeted yearly by businesses for their website’s SEO projects, but only a few actually conduct a regular review of their SEO programs. A well-designed SEO audit is therefore a necessity. The SEO website audit is also fast becoming the norm in many companies wanting an objective assessment of the effectiveness of their SEO initiatives.

As with any other audit, SEO website audit is a means to examine the efficiency and effectiveness of business websites. It seeks to identify the gaps between expected and actual website performance. The end goal of SEO audit is to recommend improvements and maximize the benefits from SEO investments.

SEO Website Audit in a Nutshell?

SEO audit is a means to track the performance of the various SEO activities conducted for a website. Through the SEO website audit, the status of the site as evaluated by search engines can be assessed. With SEO audit, there is now a way to examine the robustness of the website’s technical framework and infrastructure, which includes SEO keywords, content, meta tags, and link popularity, and in comparison with top competitors.

The SEO website audit is both a quality and performance review. It measures the value added to the website as a result of the SEO work done on it, such as search engine rankings, traffic volume, and conversions.

The output of an SEO audit is a report on the site’s performance. It contains the issues and problems that cause poor website performance, and the most efficient and effective SEO techniques to employ from thereon to improve performance. Moreover, the SEO audit report will identify SEO methodologies that can be removed from the SEO program altogether because they are not effective and are a waste of investment.

Benefits of the SEO Audit

What are the benefits of an SEO audit? Here are a few of them:

1. An SEO website audit can pinpoint reasons for poor ranking performance and provide helpful performance improvement advice.

2. An SEO audit can assess the extent and scale of poor performance. It can also rectify whatever damage done by past SEO methodologies by providing valuable decision-making information on whether to hire professional SEO experts to work on the problem, or continue with in-house SEO work.

3. An SEO website audit guarantees management buy-in and support, particularly when conducted by a third-party SEO auditor. When confirmed by concrete metrics, this can convince decision makers in the company that present and future SEO strategies are working effectively for the business.

Making SEO web site audit a part of the business road map should be one of the most important undertakings for a company. SEO audit ensures that the company’s SEO initiatives are well-validated and worth the investment.

Local SEO and Internet Advertising Defined Part 3

Posted by 10 October, 2011 (0) Comment

Search engine optimization(SEO) is the biggest tool right now to build a brand name, establish credibility, and get customers from the internet. Websites that have been optimized well, show up on the left side of search results of search engines below sponsored results. This area is called organic results or organic placement. Organic results account for about 65 -75% of clicks from search engines. Organic results on of Google, Yahoo!, and Bing has proven to be the most unbiased and reliable information. Many people use the organic results to research a product, service, place, and etc before they make a buying decision. The biggest benefit of SEO to local businesses is that every click from organic results to your website is free. In part 3 of internet advertising defined we will uncover how local SEO can help your website, why it works, and what type of program would be best for your business.

When I speak with business owners about investing in SEO, the first thing that they say is that it is too expensive. This is simply not true. Actually in most cases it is the complete opposite. I’ll explain. You own a website that you had built for free, and it doesn’t generate you customers for your business. While your competitor has a website that he pays someone $1000 per month to advertise on search engines, that brings him $10,000 per month in return. Your free website is costing you $9,000 per month to have. By strategically advertising on search engines, you give yourself the greatest chance of making money from your website. By doing nothing however, your website will bring you the same in return.

SEO can require a high initial investment when you are talking about marketing to an entire country, or the entire world. However, when you target a smaller area your costs can be very affordable. Many people call this “local SEO”. Local SEO can help you increase quality traffic to your website by helping your website to land on the first page organically in a specific area. The location that best represents the information, products, or services you offer is where your local SEO will be the least expensive. For example, if you are a plumber with an office in Atlanta, GA. Based on the competition in your area, it is much less expensive for you to advertise your business in Atlanta than anywhere in the world. Local SEO is the process of helping your website move to the front of search results on major search engines in your local area.

Businesses that claim a position organically has shown search engines that they are the most beneficial to users, therefore they are placed at the front of search results to provide information, a product, or a service. There are many factors that search engines use to determine what website is the most beneficial for their users. One of the major factors is the age of the website. Another important factor is how well a website communicates to search engines the information that is on the website. Other factors include website load time, bounce rate, popularity, domain name, and many other factors.

Internet advertising companies that specialize in local SEO can offer you very affordable rates for getting quality traffic to your website. When investing in local SEO, be sure to ask if you will own the domain name, as well as, the website. Some companies will do a good job of helping you optimize your website, but will never allow you to own it. The second you stop paying them, they give you your domain name and take your site down. Without knowing how to include the aforementioned factors properly, you may not be able to effectively recreate an optimized website. Other internet advertising companies will still try to charge you outrageous rates for local SEO services, claiming that the competition in your area warrants these prices. While in some cases competition will cause the initial investment to be higher, many companies take advantage of unsuspecting advertisers. For the most affordable rates, I would recommend investing with an internet advertising company that specializes in map listings, pay per click advertising, and local SEO. These companies have a better chance of reducing costs on each service, by using them to complement each other.

In conclusion, local SEO can help you increase quality traffic to your website helping your website to land on the first page of search engines organically in a specific area. By targeting your local area, you can dramatically reduce your cost of advertising on search engines.

This concludes my 3 part series to “Local SEO and Internet Advertising Defined”. After careful consideration of map listing, sponsored results, and organic placement the best local SEO and internet advertising program for your business should include all three parts of major search engines.

Choosing the right internet advertising strategy will take time, and can be very challenging. Hopefully these tips will put you one step closer to the right internet advertising for your business.

Free SEO Tools – How They Can Help – Part 2

Posted by 23 August, 2011 (0) Comment

In the previous article (Part 1), I shared with you the importance of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and introduced you to some of the free SEO tools in the market. In this article, I will like to introduce you to some more free SEO tools.

Microsoft IIS SEO Toolkit

Microsoft has arrived with one of the most useful SEO tools – the IIS (Internet Information Server) SEO toolkit. This toolkit is only installed on IIS 7 web server. However, you can also use it to analyze any remote site not running on IIS 7. The toolkit offers you interesting utility features such as, site analysis, Robots exclusion, site indexes, and sitemaps. From all these analytics, you can derive useful information about how to make your site more and more search engine-friendly.

Sitemap Generator AuditMyPC

To improve the search positioning of your website, your site needs to be familiar with the intricacies of leading search engines such as Google. One way to catch the attention of a search engine is to create a site map and offer it for the search engine’s inspection. Though there are many tools that create site map, AuditMyPC is probably one of the best products available in this category. This is an online tool that runs on a Java-enabled browser.

SEO Toolbar

Firefox provides some additional libraries that offer a complete SEO kit on a toolbar. The SEO kit includes rank test features (Google PR, Alexa Rank), website search-friendliness analysis, keyword analysis, competitor’s website analysis and many more SEO features.

Like Firefox, there is a similar tool for users of the Google Chrome Browser: the Site SEO Tools extension. This Chrome library gives you general information about your site’s SEO readiness in a window.

Xenu Link Sleuth

This is a lightweight application that runs on all windows versions (desktop environment only). The application is pretty easy to use and it quickly detects the broken links (related to the eyebrow-raising Error 404). By detecting broken links, this application helps you to do a better SEO job.

SocialMention

We know that analyzing competitor’s brand positioning is important to improve a site’s SEO positioning. SocialMention is an online service that conducts search operation in blogs, forums, social networks, and calendar pages to derive information related to your brand or the keywords that you have used during your SEO activities.

Website Grader

This is an online service that measures a website’s marketing success. Your site is given a score based on information like web traffic, the extent of SEO performed, popularity of the website in social networks, and several other technical parameters. The results serve as crucial metrics and will pave the way for your future SEO strategies.

Now these were some of the free SEO tools that you can use to make your website more search engine-friendly. As webmasters, we need to remember that SEO cannot bring immediate results. Patience and the will to discover new tools and techniques are essential attributes to deliver best SEO results in the long run.

Writing is my life and I love it. I write a lot of Articles and Blogs to relay all of my experience about SEO Services. To know more about Websites SEO visit my website.
